Finally, after talking about it for months, I’m ready to start my first homebrew. Went out today and got all the stuff I need to make a double stage stout. Hope it turns out! The amount of steps is a bit overwhelming – it seems like there are a million ways to ruin a batch of beer. The best I can do is try and see, though.
I did just realize a stumbling block, though. I can’t use an aluminum pot to boil the mixture in, and I can’t tell if my huge soup pot is aluminum or not. It’s not marked anywhere on the pot, and it’s not so light that I’d immediately think it must be aluminum. Hm… how to tell apart aluminum and stainless steel pots if there’s no label?
