Thanks for the feedback. I'll try to address those kinds of things in my review.

Annalea, the Soft Merino (both DK and fingering) is definitely soft. Not as soft as, say, Lorna's Laces, but still soft. Feels smooth to the touch and doesn't have itchy guard hairs or anything.

I'm REALLY curious to see how the soft merino works up. It looks lovely (especially in cables--almost like handspun), and the colors are so appealing. You're such a lucky blogger! :o)

WOW lovely parcel to get through the post.... and I'm glad I ordered my sample book... am loving their crochet yarns...

Definitely would like to know your opinions on handling of yarns when working such as smooth, abbraisive etc how the yarn made up such as tightly plied, loose plied, plies easily seen and how the yarns wash.... along with details such as metreage, ball weight (I notice a lot of Japanese yarns are 40g), composition, recommended needle size & gauge

I received a Corona CN-9N knitting machine today without a manual and have no idea how to get started using it. I was hoping someone might be able to help me or lead me to a good source of information. I did do a Google search but this is the only page I could find.

I have never used a knitting machine before so I don't know where to even start. I have done a little hand knitting but I don't know if that will help getting started with a machine.

Thanks for your help.

I have used 4 ply but only on stocking stitch. 3x 2/30 is suposed to be equivelant to 4 ply but is much softer. I would save the thicker yarn for hand or chunky machine.

Have you ever tried to use yarn other than the fine gauge cone yarn? I am trying to use thicker 4 ply wool yarn for a project and it's not working very well on my Passap DM80. (I am a very new beginner)

I have a Passap DM80 and am still barely learning how to use it. I followed the books directions to knit the mitten and successfully completed it using the fine gauge cone yarn. Now I want to try using a skein of medium weight 4 ply wool yarn I bought to make a small wool blanket for felting. I cannot figure out how to cast on and am wondering if I am using a yarn that is way too thick. (4ply)

The person who gave me the machine still lives nearby so I could ask her for help, but I would like to find other sources of information so I don't keep bugging her.

My question is: Are these knitting machines limited to the thin yarn that comes on the cones, or can you use heavier yarn commonly used in hand-knitting?

Congrats on the SK360 for $7.50! I wouldn't have passed it up either. Probably will only need a good cleaning and some needles replaced. Shame that machine knitting has gone off the deep end.
